The Power of Forgiveness in Relationships

Dr. Covenant WilliamsMarch 12, 2026
Forgiveness is not optional for the believer—it is essential. In every relationship, especially marriage and family, the ability to forgive is what keeps love alive and growing. Colossians 3:13 instructs us to 'Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.' Forgiveness is not a feeling—it is a decision. It is choosing to release the offense and trust God with the outcome. Practical steps to walk in forgiveness: 1. Acknowledge the hurt honestly before God 2. Choose to forgive as an act of obedience 3. Release the person from your judgment 4. Pray for them genuinely 5. Set healthy boundaries if needed 6. Trust God to heal your heart over time Forgiveness is the fragrance of the Kingdom.
